Let’s be honest. Dovid and I are not the best at setting and keeping a budget. We know all the things we are supposed to do but sometimes the immediacy of comfort and convenience will win out over the seemingly far off goal of our new sail date of June 2017.
Then there is the presentation of future comforts and convenience. Such as a lifetime WORLDWIDE vacation time share network that gives us one to four stays per year (depending on the properties we choose). In the moment the THOUSANDS of dollars that we have to pay over time seemed very worth the added expense for the idea of being able to have a place that we can wash clothes and bathe and be comfortable for a night after sailing for weeks. BUT… that means even more sacrifices will have to be made. This is where the discipline comes in.
I personally have to give up going to the coffee shop ENTIRELY and Dovid is looking into getting a part time job since the passive income he has isn’t enough in order to pull off this new added expense of nearly $500/mo. So that means for internet I will hike over to the library Tuesday-Saturday after work instead of just crossing the street and going to the coffee shop. A plus for that option is that I will get more exercise AND won’t spend any money. Dovid is looking at getting a job nearby that has the potential to get us some free food from time to time so there’s and extra plus to that as well.
On top of the above, when I was doing the math for our future projects, we HAVE to save at LEAST $150/month in order to do the haul out and live aboard the boat while on the hard. That amount is JUST for the haul out and doesn’t include the final professional survey or any additional repairs that we find out we need when the survey is done.
SO… the project for the rest of this month is to make lists of all the contacts for sponsorship and advice and then to CONTACT them all and keep on it until we get something going. Wish us luck!
