It seems a romantic notion to sail off into the sunset with nothing but the barest of essentials and the hope that the rest will come along the way. Even with as much of a dreaming wanderer as I can be, I am much more pragmatic than to ship out without any kind of plan whatsoever. That may be the kind of thing that would work if it were just Dovid heading out on his own (or me by myself if I had a boat), but I don’t think it would work as well for the two of us together.
I almost wonder if Captain Dovid knew what he was getting into inviting his bestie on this adventure with him. I am the socially interactive one while he is more the reclusive type. I could totally see him doing this all by himself Joshua Slocum style with nothing but the shirt on his back and the wind in his sails not stopping till he hit the shore of his choosing. Me, I want to stop and meet people and do things and see things and all that stuff. I may get a travel scholarship for my poetry endeavors which would require me to leave North America and not return for a year which considering the goal of circumnavigation isn’t that hard of a task, but I am not counting that chicken’s egg before it hatches.
So… what would it be for us if we just set off with NOTHING? How would we survive? What is the least we would need? All questions with no answer right this second but I will link back as I get the answers. I hope you will stay tuned as we figure this all out!
